Our Story

Our Vision

A cast of over 40 students was performing the beloved musical Shrek when the pandemic abruptly halted their production after opening weekend. Weeks later, they learned that the place where they had built their community would be closing permanently. In those first months following March 2020, this news was truly heartbreaking.

Determined to create theatrical opportunities for youth in Clackamas County, a group of Parents, Teaching Artists, and Donors got together - virtually of course :) After a few months of research, and a few community town-halls, Imagine Theatre was born.

Imagine Theatre has always been about creating opportunities, developing youth, and fostering community.

We have always done this with a heart for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We strive to be built for community by community.

We believe that theatre is for everyone.

Theatre For All

Our Mission

We are a community-driven, Christ-centered organization that focuses on fostering inclusion and empowering youth & families through the theatre arts.

Our Values

  • Community - Fostering a sense of belonging among youth, families, and patrons.

  • Education - Providing opportunities for learning, growth, and development in all aspects of theatre arts.

  • Inclusivity -  Boldly creating space for all identities, faiths, and experiences.

  • Excellence - Holding our self, and Imagine community, to high standards on stage and off.

Statement Regarding Faith

Being of faith is not a requirement for participation in Imagine Theatre programming. Additionally, Imagine Theatre does not teach or require students to learn any faith aspects. Imagine Theatre aims to foster an intentional community that honors all people by holding space for youth and families from all walks of life including faith. More specifically Imagine strives to create a space where students of faith, and those not of faith, value being in community together and honor each other. Imagine fosters this by utilizing a variety of secular and non-secular venues for rehearsal and by selecting shows that explore a wide variety of values. Imagine takes great pride in the diverse support it receives from a multitude of organizations, communities, and businesses.
