Gala Performances

Summary & Vision

Sign up to join us for our 3rd annual Gala to celebrate Imagine's 5 years of theatrical excellence!

Imagine's annual gala has quickly become a beloved community tradition. One that incorperates food, fundraising, speakers and about an 1hrs worth of student performances. These performances include about 14 songs from past shows, future shows, and just generally well loved songs. About 5 of these selections are  "Ensemble-Songs" with the rest being solos, duets, or small group songs. Interspersed between performances will be videos and speeches from students, families, and staff sharing their experience and the impact Imagine has had on their lives.

There are no fees or committee requirements associated with being a part of the Gala. We do ask that families consider volunteering a few hours to help with set up/tear down for the gala, which can be indicated on the interest form.

Students/families will be able to declare conflicts. Most students will be called to only a few rehearsals.

Details

  • Current Imagine students or alumni are invited to apply.

  • Must have been in at least two Imagine Productions within the last 5 years (Summer programs count)

  • Must be available for the 4/30 run-through, the 5/2 gala, and at least two other dates.  (Most youth will attend 3-4 rehearsals total.)

  • Rehearsals will be either at Oak Grove United Methodist Church OR the Boring Damascus Grange depending on who is called (as in, if a lot of the kids called are already at the Grange for rehearsal, then we would be at the grange, etc.) The rehearsal location will be communicated when the gala schedule is released on March 6th.

  • Most rehearsals are on Fridays from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 1-5pm. The Gala schedule will work around the Alice & Schoolhouse schedules and only schedule those youth on Saturdays. A few Thursdays have been added to the options list, should that be an option for youth who may be specifically singing solos/duets.

  • It is our goal that each youth be in 1-2 songs plus an all-cast song. Not all youth may have solos, but we will allocate solos as songs allow.

  • NEW THIS YEAR: At the gala event itself, youth will be required to stay on-site for the duration of the event, and a catered dinner will be in the green room, separate from the event. We will be attempting to live stream the event into the green room so that youth can watch, but due to anticipated capacity size, youth will not be joining the event other than for performances. This year, we will also have mics added for leads/duets and longer solos.

  • Gala Cast limited to 30 spots. Factors considered for casting include, but are not limited to: availability, number of shows/programs, production/song requirements, age, etc. Due to limited space and time, we anticipate that not everyone who applies will be cast.

  • The interest form will be open from Feb 6th - 20th. All who apply will receive a follow-up information by March 6th.

Please note that some Solo/duet numbers and leads of ensemble songs have been pre-selected with plenty of roles still remaining.
