NOTE: Audition sign-ups are capped at 68. If the audition list is full we enourage folks to sign up for the waitlist as we do typically see a few spots open the week leading up to auditions. Annie will cast up to 60 youth in the show. This cap of 60 is to due to venue limitations and helps ensure quality of experience for all youth.
While Imagine aims to cast all who audition, it is anticipated that cuts will have to be made. Those cut from the audition process are promised a role on crew if they so choose, and will receive feedback regarding their audition in their cut email. Cut emails will be sent at the same time as the cast list goes live.

Artistic and Leadership Team
A Note About Artistic Direction For Annie:
The divide between the “haves” and “have-nots” continues to grow, resources
are scarce, and there is dissension in the nation. The backdrop of the Great Depression frames
the tale of this brave orphan, but doesn’t it also sound like...today? The story of Annie seems
far-fetched, but is rooted in themes are are always true, always relevant, always important. We
are strong, and there is hope. I encourage you to choose a musical theater song for your
audition that makes you feel strong.

The audition process is a fun and integral part of the production! We understand that auditions can feel stressful, but everyone you see is your biggest cheerleader! When you thrive, we thrive.
- WHEN ARRIVING: When you arrive for auditions, you will check in and make sure all your information is in order. You will have your headshot taken and receive any additional information. One adult may accompany each student into the audition room as moral support.
- AUDITIONING: You and seven other auditioners, along with their support people, will go into the audition room as a group. When it is your turn to perform your song, you will be called up. Hand your accompaniment device to the audio person cued up to the spot you want to begin singing. Stand in front of the artistic team and they will let you know when you may begin. When prompted, “slate”, which means introduce yourself by name and age, then tell us which song selection you have chosen. Then you will indicate for the audio person to begin your song and you can sing. When you have completed, say, “Thank you.” You will get to watch five other students audition, so please show encouragement by staying engaged and applauding when appropriate.
- CALLBACKS: Callbacks will be requested at the discretion of the Directors. If you are called back, you will receive notice before 11pm on Friday, Sept. 13th. Callbacks will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14th from 9am-1pm at Oak Grove UMC. You will be notified if you are to attend the entire time, or just a portion thereof. If you are NOT called back, that does not mean you are not getting considered for a part. Being “called back” simply means the directors would like to see you read/perform something specific. For this production, callbacks will consist of a dance, music, and cold readings from the script.
- The Cast List will be sent out via email & posted in the shared Google Classroom on the Sunday after auditions at 3pm. As an educational opportunity we assume all students accept their role. The cast list will also be shared on social media that evening.
